I decided to sign up for a day tour through the Highlands, so I popped over to the Tourist Information side near me and booked with Rabbie’s. This tour was amazing! There were only 16 people on a Sprinter van and our guide Dave kept up quite entertained. He was passionate and knowledgeable, answering questions and providing a humorous twist to the history of the area. I would highly recommend taking a tour with Rabbie’s … If you can get Dave as a guide, even better!
First stop, Dunkeld
After a short walk and a bit of lunch, we stopped off at the Hermitage. I have never in my life seen such beauty – these photos do it no justice.
The next stop was Queen’s View in Pitlochry, believed to have been named for Queen Isabella in the 14th century.
Now time for a Whisky – the Aberfeldy Distillery was delightful and our tour guide was the son of a Whisky distiller and boy did he love his whisky! While I’m not much of a blended whisky person, the Aberfeldy Single Malt was amazing to taste. This is on my allergy list, but in a weak moment I caved – my punishment, super swollen feet … I regret nothing! 😋
On the way home, we were running about a bit ahead of schedule and instead of our guide just dropping us off and heading home, Dave gave us a little treat and stopped off so that we could take so evening photos of the Forth Bridge. This bridge is about 125 years old, enormous and has outlasted the bridge next to it which was built in the 1950’s! What a great way to end a wonderful day.
