After about three weeks in their pots, it was finally time to transplant our plants into their raised garden bed.
The bed is made of cedar and expandable, allowing me to add to it without worrying about digging the old garden up! Cedar is also known to help keep pests away, so double-win!
My little tomatoes have adjusted well to the soil and are now thriving. Initially, I was a little concerned when I transplanted my crops, but with good soil and plenty of water, they have done just fine.
Oh, and if you’re wondering what that box is behind my garden, it’s a turtle habitat. I put together an enclosure to allow them to enjoy the weather and get some additional exercise.
During my trip to pick up the soil, I picked up a Habanero pepper plant; I think these will mostly be used for salsa.
And also planted a little mint with thoughts of Mojitos with friends on the patio.
My little baby Groot looks so grown up! The green leaves are thickening up nicely and I’m sure they will be even brighter in the coming weeks.
The cucumbers are also coming along nicely; the leaves have this scratchy consistency, almost like soft spines. They are about the size of a quarter right now; I can’t believe they’ll be as large as my hand in a few more weeks!
I have two types of mint in the back, rosemary in the middle, and a little sweet basil in the front.
All in all, I think the garden is coming along nicely! I can’t wait for my first harvest; I think the peppers will be ready before anything else.

Hi! I found your blog via reddit. I love it! It’s so cute and I agree that your kale looked like baby Groot 😀
You might bear in mind that mint is incredibly invasive–it will take over that entire bed if you’re not careful (I might leave it in a pot, to be honest). I moved into a house with two raised beds and I’m trying to eradicate the mint from BOTH of them because heaven forbid I try to grow something that isn’t mint 😀

Interesting point about the mint, I can definitely see this starting to happen already. I think I’ll let the get a little bigger and transplant them (again) to the front yard – we have a small walk space with a little strip where I think they could work. And it would be fine if they took that space over. It might even be nice to have the smell of mint by the front door.
